Playground for our children

The Garrigue non-profit organization together with parents and the directory of the kindergarten Makovskeho (partner of the project) have asked for a financial contribution for the rehabilitation and modernization of the nursery garden through the VIA endowment fund by processing the Grant in the area of COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND LOCAL DONATION. The grant application was accepted and approved.

The contract regarding the grant assistance provided by the Community Development fund, supported by the NIF was signed by the representatives of the VIA endowment fund and the Garrigue non-profit organization on 3^rd August 2010.

The purpose of the project is the active involvement of the community of parents and friends of the kindergarten Slavikova in the decision making about appearance, adjustment and use of the garden. The tool of communication will be community appointments. The terms of appointments will always be set minimum 14 days prior to the day when the meeting will take place. The meetings will be held in the kindergarten premises. The channels for further information are the kindergarten webpages and email addresses of parents and the updates are done by members of the working group.

Timetable of the project

August 2010 – June 2011

• Preparation of the project presentation and a questionnaire for the community (focus on the selection of playing elements) – August
• Community familiarization with the project – September
• Dealing with the designer – September
• Study creation, including the work schedule – September
• Discussion on the draft proposal and its approval – September
• Searching for prices of the playing elements, negotiation with companies about the possibilities of the community involvement – October
• Accepting a purchase of specific elements, acquaintance of the public with the project (publicity), agreement of event terms  – October
• Preparation and implementation of the project promotion – October
• Implementation of autumn garden maintenance with help of the community and the public and launch of the photo competition – October, November
• Arrangement on contractual terms and delivery dates with suppliers of the playing elements – January, February
• Implementation of activities modernizing the garden and the playground – April, May, June
• Inauguration of the reconstructed garden accompanied by the event “Children’s day” – 17.6.2011!

On 23^rd November 2010 the first collective event of the community of Slavikova kindergarten took place. Parents and friends of the Slavikova kindergarten prepared the garden for the “winter sleep” by raking leaves and adapted the terrain for spring reconstruction (digging up old roots etc.). Program for children was prepared too and at the end of the day the kids together with parents enjoyed a lantern procession and sausages grilling.

On the 24^th May 2011 the community of parents and friends of Slavikova kindergarten gathered for the first spring working brigade. The attendance was high and children were excited to help as well. People were painting, scratching and planting with joy. The garden brightened with bright and cheerful colours.

On the 17th June 2011 the playground officially opened. May the children and members of the Slavikova playground enjoy the place with joy!
